There are definitely downsides to working in a beauty related company. And with being insanely in love with Christmas.
Over the weekend, I went to a shopping mall to get my Shu Uemura Hard Formula brow pencil sharpened.
But I went overboard and bought tons of things.
So I guess this is a haul of some sort.
Or a record keeping of my insanity.
First I bought the limited edition holiday blush palette from Benefit Cosmetics.
It’s called Real Cheeky Party. Every holiday Benefit seems to bring out blush palette and it’s really a bargain to get one of these.
Inside contains five blushes, one highlighter, one liner and one mascara.
Blush include (in the order from left to right)…
Top:
Dandelion (soft pink with shimmer)
Rockateur (dusty rose with shimmer)
Sugarbomb (a coral that many people use as highlighter)
Bottom:
Hoola (matte bronzer)
Coralista (coral with shimmer)
The highlighter is Watt’s Up highlighter
The liner is They’re Real! Push-up Liner
And the mascara is They’re Real! Mascara (which is my favorite)
I bought this palette because I ran out of my NARS Laguna bronzer (a long time ago, really) and was in need of a bronzer. I’ve never tried Hoola but am aware of its strong presence within the ‘beauty community’. Plus I’m also running out of my They’re Real! mascara so I thought it would be perfect for me to buy this palette.
And of course, I also wanted to try out other blushes from Benefit. I’ve only tried Dandelion but was always interested in Coralista.
While the products are not in full size, I think this is more than enough and it should last me awhile. It’s a great palette for me to take to the UK.
Next I went to Accessorize and bought a set of earrings and a ring.
Both are sterling silver, so it was kind of pricey, but I really like sterling silver accessories because the color goes back to normal when you polish it with a polishing cloth.
I think it’s interesting that I got hoop earrings. I haven’t worn one of those since middle school. But my friend who’s in the Netherlands right now for exchange student told me she got a small set of hoop earrings, which got me interested in getting one myself.
And the ring. What can I say? I love the antique feel to the ring. And while it is very similar to my other rings, the stone in this ring is small enough for me to wear it on a daily basis.
Here’s Ollie chewing on my hoop earrings…
Then I bought this calendar from Butter.
I think it’s absolutely adorable.
At first, I thought it only had December because it’s a Christmas calendar, but turns out there are other months written on it.
January, July and November have special places in my heart.
And then I bought a book.
I bought short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle.
I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned my obsession with Penguin English Library collection. Their book covers are absolutely amazing and whenever possible, I try to buy looks from this collection.
I also have Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility from this collection. Both covers are breathtaking.
These are the short stories within the book.
I’m definitely really excited to read this. I’ve been so busy going to work and then going to tutoring that I don’t have the time to read a long story. So it’ll be exciting to read these short stories instead.
And saving the best for the last…
I’ve been wanting this particular Shu Uemura lipstick since… forever. (Well, maybe since October…)
This is the shade Suzy from Miss A, a really famous Korean singer/actress, wore in a photoshoot. It’s been really hyped in Korea and I was sucked into this craze.
Now, while she did mix this particular shade with Diva from MAC Cosmetics to achieve the lip color in the photoshoot, I just bought this shade because I’m a red lipstick hoarder.
This is Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte lipstick in shade RD 165, also known as Modern Red.
It’s a classic red color (slightly towards warm tone red) and it’s absolutely beautiful.
While it’s a matte lipstick, it doesn’t feel drying on the lips.
Bear in mind that the colors presented in the photo for both the blush palette from Benefit and the lipstick from Shu Uemura are not true to their color.
So… that’s all…
It really seems like a lot when I break it down like this. But I thought I’d pamper myself once in a while… :)
Plus I was determined to get the blush palette and the lipstick anyway, so I might as well get it now.
Note to self: no more holiday gifts for self this year. This is enough.
