Red Lippies

JUST KIDDING.

Instead of writing about the classic British afternoon tea, I thought I would write about something else… my red lipstick collection.

By now my readers would know (by the extensive amount of red things that I have) how much I love the color red. Red TOMS shoes, red nails, red bracelet, and of course, red lipstick.

My love for the color red didn’t start until I entered college. I think a nice classic red lipstick and red polish always look good on people no matter their skin tone.

So here are my red lipstick collection as well as two additional brick-red/dusty rose lipsticks I’ve been enjoying lately!

Note: This is in no way “color accurate” and professional as pictures by beauty bloggers. I just wanted to show my red lipstick collection. Also, I’m surprised I haven’t written much about makeup in this blog… I’m a makeup addict :)

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam

This is really more of a dark red on my lips~

I love the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream collection. I found out about it through this YouTube beauty creator’s video, and I’ve been using these so much. My favorite shade is actually Antwerp which is more of a salmon-colored lip cream. I need to stock up on one of those because it’s almost spring/summer time!

CLINIQUE Colour Pop in 08 Cherry Pop

My friend gave me this for my birthday this year, and I’ve been using this religiously.

It’s closer to a pink than a red on my lips. I don’t usually put on pink lipstick but I really like this one for ombre lips!

(Another way to use this for ombre lips is to put on a light layer of MAC lipstick in Rebel, and then to follow up with this color in the inner part of the lips!)

ESSENCE longlasting lipliner in 01 Ready for Red

I originally bought this to use as a lip liner for when I use NARS Dragon Girl, but the colors don’t match so I’ve been using this separately. I use this one the least often out of the five.

SHU UEMURA Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte in M RD 165 Modern Red

My favorite and holy grail red lipstick!

This is a true red and most flattering red lipstick for me personally, and I love (love love) this one. The formula is creamy and it just looks so nice.

Definitely will purchase this lipstick again once I finish using the one I have!

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl

This is the very first red lipstick I started collecting. I bought this after reading about how Taylor Swift uses this as her daily red lipstick. It’s more of a blue-toned red so it’s not as flattering on me, but it still looks alright.

Here are the five lipstick swatches next to one another. The order from left to right is the same as the order I’ve introduced the lipsticks. Again, I’m no expert on beauty blogging so these might not be true to the actual color.

I like these lipsticks because they’re satin and matte finish. When I try to find red lipstick (or lipsticks in general, actually), I try to find matte lipsticks rather than glossy or shiny lipsticks.

Here’s brick-red and dusty rose lip color I’ve been enjoying as well!

This particular color is a combination of SHU UEMURA lipstick mentioned above and MAC Lipstick in Rebel.

This combination is somewhat of a replication of a combination worn by popular Korean celebrity Suzy in a photo shoot. The exact shade she wore was the SHU UEMURA lipstick with MAC lipstick in Diva, but I picked up the wrong shade… Oh well!

Dusty rose has been a very popular F/W color in Korea. This Creamy Tint by a Korean brand called Mamonde was at one point sold out across Korea. Luckily I got hold of it when the store near my house restocked this lipstick. The shade is 34 Velvet Rose.
